A financial donation from two Hollywood celebrities will help an Indio-based horse rescue organization expand its ranch.

Actress Portia de Rossi and her wife, TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, have made an undisclosed donation to the Coachella Valley Mounted Rangers.

“We feel wonderful, and we are very thankful and grateful,” Mounted Rangers spokeswoman Annette Garcia said on Thursday. “It is absolutely amazing.”

Garcia declined to say how much money de Rossi and DeGeneres donated but said it would help the rescue organization shelter horses.

A portion of the donation has already been used to purchase five horse stalls that are 24 feet wide by 24 feet long, Garcia said.

De Rossi's publicist confirmed the donation was made but declined to comment or discuss details Thursday.

DeGeneres' publicist also refused comment on Thursday.

But DeGeneres put a link to the Mounted Rangers' Web site on her show's Twitter page on July 23 and asked her fans to help the rescue organization.

Coachella Valley Mounted Rangers members are scheduled to meet in early September to discuss how to spend the rest of the money.
