Berlin streets flooded on Sunday

A rainstorm on Sunday caused more flooding on the streets of Berlin in Green Lake County.
The city received a lot of rain in a short period of time. Tom Helman, meteorologist for the National Weather Services Station in Green Bay, said Berlin received up to half an inch of rain today. The area south of Berlin received between 1-2 inches of rain.
The rain brought street flooding and a state highway closure. The water level of the Fox River in Berlin is at 16.03-feet, said Gary Podoll, emergency management director for Green Lake County. The flood level is 13-feet.
State Highway 49 southbound in Berlin is closed along with the same streets affected by last week's flooding, Podoll said.
County Trunk F will serve as a detour for State Highway 49, Podoll said.
Podoll said he doesn't have an estimate on how many streets were flooded, but the waters are receding. Berlin businesses remain open.
Everyone along the river needs to keep a close eye on it for the next few days, Podoll said. Anyone who needs help should contact the Green Lake County Sheriff's office at (920) 294-4000.
County officials will continue to monitor the situation, Podoll said.
"We don't want any more rain," he said. "Any more rain is going to make the flooding worse."
The rainy weather winded down Sunday in the area with a small chance of storms on Wednesday and Friday, Helman said.
